SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday issued following statement regarding Bandipora attack saying that at about 1700hrs, militants hurled a grenade on a joint party of Police & BSF in Bandipora resulting in killing of one police personnel and injuries to 04 other police personnel.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that militants hurled a grenade upon the Naka party near Nishat Park in Bandipora in which 05 Police/BSF personnel received splinter injuries and were evacuated to hospital. However, among the injured police personnel Zubair Ahmad succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom, while as the condition of other injured personnel is stable,” said the spokesman.
“We pay our rich tributes to the slain for his supreme sacrifices in the line of duty and stand by his family at this critical juncture,” he said.
“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime. Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on,” said the spokesman.
