Bandipora Gunfight: One slain militant identified

Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday late evening identified one among two slain militants killed in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district as Pakistani codenamed Talha.

A police spokesman in a statement said that as per the police  records he was operating as commander of the proscribed outfit LeT in the areas of Bandipora and was wanted by law for his involvement in crimes and civilian atrocities.

“According to the police records he was part of groups involved in planning and executing attacks in the area. Several crime cases were registered against him for his involvement in crimes,” said the spokesman.

“Incriminating material including goods bearing Pakistani marks and arms & ammunition have been recovered from his possession. All the incriminating materials have been taken into records for the purpose of investigation and to probe his complicity in other crimes,” said the spokesman.

He said that identity of the other slain militant is being ascertained.

“People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any,” police spokesman said.
