The 85 -km Bandipora -Gurez road which remains closed for traffic during winter months today was formally thrown open to vehicular traffic.

The opening ceremony was held at Razdan Pass, 11672 feet above sea level, connecting Gurez valley with District headquarter Bandipora, a spokesman said.

The spokesman said that the GOC 28 Infantry Division and District Development Commissioner Bandipora besides concerned officers and Media persons were present on the occasion.

“It was given out that because of concerted efforts of BRO and the Civil Administration, the road this year was opened earliest against previous years,” an official spokesman said.
