SRINAGAR: All the three boys accused of killing an SSB and snatched two rifles are in police custody. While two boys were arrested within hours of the attack, the third was rounded up on Sunday.

DIG Chenab Valley range Basant Rath broke the news on his Facebook page while congratulating the Ramban police for “arresting the killers in thirty hours”.

Within a few hours of the attack, police had arrested Gazanfar Iqbal Khan and Mohammad Arif Wani. Both the rifles were recovered from them. Their third accomplice was identified as Aauqib Najar, a resident of Kaskoot. They had snatched the weapons from SSB who were on guard duty on a private construction company implementing a tunnelling project in Banihal periphery. While one SSP personnel, a head constable, was killed from a close range, another one survived with serious face injury.

Interestingly, Rath had acknowledged the support that the families extended to the police in arrested the two boys. He strongly denied the rumoured details that the boys were going to fight for Rohingyas. “There is absolutely no Rohingya connection,” Rath wrote on his wall.
