SRINAGAR: A 31-year-old private bank employee, Gagan Rao, was found dead by suicide at his Hosakerehalli residence in Bengaluru following an alleged marital dispute with his wife, The New Indian Express reported
Rao, who had married Meghana, a final-year BCA student from Chamarajanagar, 11 months ago, reportedly faced frequent quarrels over accusations of infidelity. On Sunday at around 7.45 am, the couple had another argument, after which Rao went to his room and hanged himself from a ceiling fan using a sari.
Neighbours and his wife broke open the door after he failed to respond for more than 10 minutes. Rao was rushed to a local hospital and later referred to Victoria Hospital, where he was declared dead. No suicide note was recovered.
Rao’s family has filed a complaint, and a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against Meghana. Police said Meghana had earlier lodged a complaint alleging Rao’s involvement with other women. Authorities had previously advised the couple to reconcile, but quarrels reportedly continued despite her return to his residence.
Police investigations are ongoing to ascertain the precise reasons behind the extreme step.
