Baramulla-Banihal rail service, resumed this afternoon, official sources said on Wednesday.

It was suspended after a portion of track was washed away due to heavy rains, they added.

However, rail run from Baramulla in north Kashmir to Qazigund in south Kashmir via Srinagar, Badgam, Pulwama, Islamabad and Kulgam was not affected, official sources said.

They said a portion of track between Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region was washed away while some other portion was under water.

However, railway authorities repaired the track and the service was resumed.
