SRINAGAR: Three militants have been killed in an encounter in the Chak Tappar area of Pattan, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Saturday.
An official said that two more unidentified militants were killed in the Chak Tappar encounter, which started late last night, bringing the total number of slain militants to three.
The search operation is ongoing, with the militants having been trapped inside a school building.
Earlier, a joint team of the Army’s 29 RR, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a cordon-and-search operation in Chak Tappar village, Pattan, Baramulla district, after receiving credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the joint team approached the suspected location, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the forces, triggering the encounter, they said. —(KNO)
