SRINAGAR: Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Er Rashid, has approved Rs 38.87 lakh for multiple drinking water projects in Kupwara district under the MPLADS scheme, the Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) said on Wednesday.

According to AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, the Office of the District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, has granted administrative approval for the works on the recommendation of MP Er Rashid to strengthen water supply across the district.
Of the total, Rs 30 lakh has been sanctioned for a prefabricated 9 KL water tanker mounted on a truck chassis for the PHE Division Handwara, aimed at improving responses to water shortages and supplying drinking water to affected areas.
Additionally, Rs 6.87 lakh has been approved for the provision, laying, and fitting of 80mm GI pipes in village Dardpora, Trehgam constituency, which will enhance the local water network. Another Rs 2 lakh has been sanctioned for providing and fixing GI pipes to improve the water supply in Ladah Taki Mohallah, Kupwara.
The AIP spokesperson emphasised that MP Er Rashid continues to prioritise basic public needs, particularly in rural areas where access to safe drinking water is limited. Inam Un Nabi expressed hope that the executing agencies will ensure timely completion so residents benefit at the earliest.
