SRINAGAR: Police in Baramulla have achieved a significant milestone in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, as they successfully apprehended 276 drug peddlers, registered 180 cases under the NDPS Act, and attached property of drug smugglers worth thousands of pounds during the first half of 2023 in the district of Baramulla.
It is worth mentioning here that 248 drug smugglers, including 30 of the most wanted, have been booked under the NDPS Act, while 28 habitual drug peddlers have been booked under the PIT-NDPS/PSA.
The police have recovered contraband substances worth millions of pounds (estimated value of contraband in the black market). The arrests were made following investigations, intelligence gathering, and proactive policing strategies.
