SRINAGAR: Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training Schools has announced vacancies for Engineering Graduates and Post Graduates as Group-A Category Scientific Officers through the DGFS and OCES 2024 scheme entry. Candidates should submit an Online Application in the prescribed format at the BARC Online Examination website before February 8, 2024, only for BARC OCES and DGFS 2024 Scientific Officer.

OCES and DGFS 2024 serve as gateways to career opportunities in the Department of Atomic Energy through the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Training School and its affiliates.

Engineering Graduates or a Science Post-Graduate with a minimum of 60 per cent marks are eligible to participate in admission to training programmes through DGFS and OCES 2024.

A one-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post-Graduates (OCES) at BARC Training School and its affiliates and a two-year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme (DGFS) for joining MTech in specific specializations at various Indian Institutes of Technology are offered in OCES and DGFS 2024.

OCES Trainee Scientific Officers (TSO) and DGFS Fellows are paid a stipend of Rs 55,000 per month during the period of their training and a one-time book allowance of Rs 18,000. DGFS Fellows are reimbursed the tuition fee for MTech/MChem Engg and are additionally paid a one-time Contingency Grant of Rs 40,000 per annum for two years to meet MTech/MChem Engg Project-related expenses and additional funding of up to Rs 400,000 under the BRNS Fast Track Project Scheme.

Upon successful completion of training, the candidates will join as Scientific Officers in the pay scale of Pay Level-10 of the 7th Pay Commission, starting with three increments (Rs 63,000), a Group-A category government job at one of the DAE units with attractive career progression up to the highest echelons.

Successful Trainee Scientific Officers (TSO) will be posted as Scientific Officers in one of the following DAE units:

FRT-M is an additional Training Scheme option available to applicants belonging to Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.

FRT-E is an additional Training Scheme option available to applicants belonging to Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering.

QA and QC is an additional Training Scheme option available to applicants belonging to Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering.

RSES is an additional Training Scheme option for applicants belonging to Nuclear Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry disciplines.

There is no separate Training Scheme called ‘Nuclear Engineering,’ and selected candidates belonging to Nuclear Engineering will be allotted RSES or Mechanical or Chemical as their Training Schemes.

The age limit is 26 years. An initial screening will be conducted either by a GATE-2022/GATE-2023/GATE-2024 score in the applicable GATE discipline or by performance in an Online Test to be conducted from March 16 to March 17, 2024.

As cut-off GATE scores for screening into Selection Interviews will be decided only after the Online Test concludes, candidates are advised to maximize their chances of being screened into the selection interview stage by availing both screening avenues (BARC online exam and GATE).

The Selection Interviews will be held in Mumbai and Hyderabad during May-June 2024. An application fee of Rs 500/- is to be paid online in SBI. There is no fee for Women/SC/ST/PWD and DODPKIA candidates.
