Kashmir returned to normal on Thursday after a daylong shutdown called by the separatist leadership against the alleged custodial killing of school teacher Rizvan Asad Pandit from Awantipora.

All the shops and other business establishments’ reopened today. The educational institutions which were closed yesterday due to the prevailing situation also resumed today. However, the Awantipora area of south Kashmir is witnessing a shutdown and clashes between the government forces and youth were also reported.

In Srinagar, a large number of people were seen busy in purchasing different household items from the market in Srinagar’s Lal-Chowk area.

Rizwan was allegedly killed in police custody during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Following his killing clashes were also reported from the Awantipora area on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a number of politicians have also condemned an act and sought a time-bound investigation in the case.
