SRINAGAR: Senior Indian Police Service officer Basant Rath, who resigned from the services on Saturday, June 25,  seek Bhartiya Janta Party’s mandate to fight an election against the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Basant Rath wrote: “If the BJP high-command allows me, I’ll contest against Omar Abdullah who was my chief minister when I was the police chief in Jammu, and Mehbooba Mufti who was my chief minister when I was the chief of traffic police in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Earlier he alleged that Director General of Police Dilbag Singh would be responsible if anything untoward happened to him.
