According to an order issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting No. 105/2013-IIS issued on November 13, Bashir Malik will be director news for both Doordarshan and Radio Kashmir Srinagar in addition to Radio Kashmir Leh and Radio Kargil.
Malik according to the spokesman is the first Kashmiri Muslim to have risen to such a senior position in Indian Information Services. He was heading Doordarshan and Radio till recently also. Author of several books in Urdu, Hindi and Kashmiri.
Malik has been awarded thrice by Doordarshan for his outstanding work and has also been conferred with the state award of excellence in media by J&K Govt.
