Noted Kashmiri cricketer Rasik Salam Dar, who was included in India under-19 squad has been banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for two years following the allegations of submission of faulty birth certificate, a press release from the Board said on Wednesday.

Salam has been banned from taking part in professional activities for two years. The board has named Prabhat Maurya as his replacement in the U19-squad that is set to play a one-day Tri-series in England starting July 21, 2019.

Jammu and Kashmir cricket Association- the state’s cricket board is yet to put out a statement in this regard.

Rasik Salam Dar

Salam, who hails from Kulgam district of South Kashmir, was part of Mumbai Indians team in cash-rich Indian Premier League, IPL, this season. He featured in the inaugural match of the season in which he conceded 42 runs in his quota of four overs. Thereafter, he did not find a place in the playing XI. He is the only 3rd cricketer, after Parvez Rasool and  Manzoor Panadav from Kashmir valley to make it to IPL.
