The IAS probationers of the 2015-17 batches, who have been allotted to the J&K cadre, called on Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti here on Tuesday.

The probationers comprised Baseer-ul-Haq, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin and Sachin Kumar Vaishya, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The Chief Minister advised the IAS probationers to avail maximum benefit out of their ongoing training program in the state so that they understand many of the intricate problems which are routinely faced by ordinary citizens, in particular those residing in remote and far-flung areas.

Asking the officers to maintain the highest standards of probity and integrity in delivery of their official duties, Ms Mehbooba said their main motive should be to serve the people by delivering justice in a fair, transparent and hassle-free manner.

Saying that the Government functioning was changing fast and thus it was imperative on the officials to be more sensitive and alert to the problems and issues being faced by the common people, she told the IAS probationers to be on toes in understanding and addressing the problems of the people.

Maintaining that the officers should be more considerate in their approach, the Chief Minister said they should know that even a casual noting on a file by them can make or break a common man’s life.

“They should take great care while handling files.  They should know that one day they will also have to visit government offices for such matters that touch their everyday life,” she said.

The Chief Minister also advised the IAS probationers to familiarize themselves with the special characteristics of the state that would prepare them better in gaining immediate understanding of the challenges faced by the people. She said the role of administrative officials was crucial in successful execution of government program and maintaining law and order.

Director General IMPARD, Dr Arun Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Navin Kumar Choudhary and Course Coordinator, Sheikh Khursheed-ul-Islam were also present on the occasion, the spokesperson added.
