Srinagar

Early snowfall has pushed the wildlife towards the plains to get food. In one such case reported from the plains of Shopian, a bear attacked apple grower working on his damaged orchard. Local residents responded to his cries for help and rescued him.

The injured apple grower was identified as Ghulam Rasool Ganai, a resident Landoora village, located on the Shopian-Islamabad road. Ganai was working in his orchard not far away from his village. Residents said they chased the bear towards the Hajipora belt.

Though the intrusion of the wildlife into the plains of Kashmir is quite frequent during autumn and spring, the early snowfall has triggered a sort of serious food crisis in the forests. It is too early for the winter sleep of the bear.
