The students at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri continue to suffer as the ongoing strike by the teaching faculty enters its fourth day.

The Teachers Association of the university, BGSBUTA is on indefinite strike. They are staying away from classes due to which the normal functioning of the varsity has got badly affected.

The BGSBUTA has been demanding adoption of ‘one man-one position policy’ as according to them, there are many officers in the University who are holding two to three positions simultaneously. Their demand also includes time bound transfer policy as some officials of the University are holding the same post for quite a long period.

The students have been sitting idle in their hostels while many are leaving campus for their homes. “We are just passing our days in hostels and play ground as teachers don’t attend the classes,” an engineering student from the varsity told Kashmir Life over phone.

Dr Asgar, president BGSBUTA told Kashmir Life that the steps they have taken are in the interest of the University and students as whole. “We are safeguarding the interest of the University and students,” Dr Asgar said, adding, “the deliberations with the concerned quarters are going on and let us wait what the results come.”
