In absence of repairs, most of the roads in Bhalla area of Bhaderwah are dotted with potholes. Even major roads such as Bhalla Kellar-Duggli and Malothi Road are in a dilapidated condition.

Despite many promises made and claims of spending funds worth Crores on road development, the condition of most of the roads in Bhalla tehsil of Bhaderwah is going from bad to worse.  “It is a nightmare for me to drive my car through this dilapidated road, but I have no option,” Gulam Muhammad, a local said.

During rains, the dilapidated roads turn into cesspools. “When water remains stagnant for a long time, it further damages roads,” a shopkeeper in Malothi village said pointing towards damaged stretch of the road.

A cursory look of the locality concludes that the pitiable condition of Bhalla mocks at the “so called” tall claims of the roads and buildings department (R&B) about the maintenance of the roads.

The residents appealed the concerned authorities included PMGSY to immediately repair the roads with quality material. “If the work is not done as per standard then the roads would present the same picture. The concerned authorities should utilize the money in right direction,” said the residents.

It is worthwhile to mention here that with the arrival of winter, the road conditions of Bhaderwah are deteriorating fast and the people here facing huge inconveniences.

Slow pace of different road projects and the government’s failure to repair dilapidated roads on timely basis often causes huge inconvenience to people.
