SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday issued the following statement regarding the killing of cop at Hasanpora Tabala area of Bijbehara Anantnag.
A police spokesman in a statement said that today at about 1730hrs Anantnag Police received information about a crime incident at Hasanpora Tabala area of Bijbehara Anantnag where militants had fired upon Police personnel.
He said that soon after the incident a senior police officers reached at the spot.
“Officers attending the crime spot learnt that Head Constable Ali Mohammad Ganie was shot at by the militants near his residential house at Hasanpora Tabala area of Bijbehara Anantnag,” he said.
“In this incident, he had received grievous gunshot injuries. Although the injured police personnel was immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries. It is pertinent to mention that the martyred official was posted at Police Station Kulgam,” he added.
“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. The investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime. The area has been cordoned and searches in the area is going on,” said the spokesman.
