Continuing with the cold response to the basic needs in Sonamarg, this Eid, on July 6 the area witnessed devastating fire, second in the last six years.
As reported, the fire which spread in a jiffy engulfed around dozen shops and five hotels on Eid when owners were back home celebrating the festival.
The people related to trade accuse government’s lackadaisical attitude for this loss. “There is no fire service station in the area,” Asif Ahmad, a local trader said.
Echoing the same concern, president Hotel owners association Sonamarg, Farooq Ahmad Hafiz told Kashmir Life that they have appealed government in last as well for this service.
“The nearest fire service station is 25 KM away in Gund,” he added.
Locals allege that this is indifference of government as this area is put to high risk as it is where Dhabas, hotels, guest houses are in full swing during all the seasons.
Pertinently, this is second time in last six years when the devastating fire engulfed property worth crores and destroyed it.
