SRINAGAR: BJP Mahila Morcha activists staged a protest against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party in Srinagar on Monday over allegations of “vote chori”, prompting a counter-demonstration by Congress workers.
The protesters assembled outside the Congress office around noon and raised slogans against Gandhi and the party leadership. They also burnt an effigy of Rahul Gandhi.
The demonstration led to a face-off between workers of the two parties after Congress workers came out of their office and raised counter-slogans, including “Vote Chor BJP” and “BJP Murdabad”.
The BJP protesters chanted “Ek Kachori, Do Samosa, Rahul Gandhi Par Kya Bharosa” while accusing the Congress of electoral irregularities. Congress workers responded with slogans targeting the BJP.
The protest took place amid an ongoing political dispute between the BJP and Congress over allegations of “vote chori”, with both parties trading accusations over electoral practices.
