Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday claimed that the party crossed the 50, 000 mark of new entrants in the party in its latest membership drive across Kashmir valley.

BJP’s member monitoring committee and media incharge Kashmir, Altaf Thakur said that the aim of the drive was to strengthen the party’s foothold across Kashmir valley.

Thakur said that PM Narendra Modi’s slogan of good governance, development, special attention towards Kashmir society and financial help to flood wrecked people has attracted the new members into the party fold.

“The most important is the youth of Kashmir and from last one month we added thousands among them into our party,” Thakur said.

He said the party was aiming to add at least three lakh new members in its fold in coming months across the Kashmir valley.

“The membership drive was officially kick started last month here in a function in which all the party’s senior workers, district heads and candidates fielded in recently held elections in different constituencies across Kashmir valley were present,” he said, adding the aim was to reach every household in the Kashmir.

Thakur said that the membership drive would continue till March 31. “The initiative was taken across the country to make the BJP one of the largest cadre based party in the world,” he said.
