BJP MLAs Demand CM’s Apology Amid Assembly Uproar

   

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed continued disruptions on Wednesday as BJP legislators intensified their protest over an alleged remark made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the ongoing Budget Session.

Terming the reported statement inappropriate and detrimental to the dignity of the House, BJP members raised slogans inside the Assembly and demanded that the Chief Minister withdraw the remark and issue an apology. The protest resulted in a brief walkout by the BJP MLAs.

The legislators later returned to the House and renewed their demand, urging the Chief Minister to acknowledge the comment as a “slip of the tongue,” express regret, and apologise.

Despite the protests and sloganeering, the Assembly proceedings continued.
