The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP on Tuesday staged a protest here in Lalchowk against the recent killing of its senior leader Gul Mohammad Mir and sought adequate security to political workers facing threat.

Led by party’s state General Secretary Ashok Koul, scores of BJP leaders and workers assembled at Press Enclave here to protest against the killing.

Mir was shot dead by unknown gunmen in his house at Nowgam-Verinag in Anantnag district of south Kashmir late Saturday night.

Koul as a mark of protest surrendered his security personnel and left in an auto rickshaw from Lalchowk.

Koul before leaving the place said that if their workers can’t have security cover, he too will not ask for it.

He said that he is surrendering his security as a mark of protest.
