BJP Stayed Silent As PDP, NC Fought Over Them

JAMMU: BJP, the coalition ally of PDP, was part of the focus when Omar Abdullah, the senior most, NC leader made a long speech. The right-wing party lawmakers stayed silent and saw the two party leaders hitting each other.

Addressing BJP lawmakers that their party has been very accommodative of their ally on more than one front. “They have taken more people in the cabinet than you and you did not talk,” Omar said. “If Amarnath Yatra type attack of 2017 had happened in my time, BJP would have launched a furious agitation in Jammu.”
BJP has chosen to remain silent on the failure chief minister in the conduct of Anantnag parliamentary by-elections, said Omar.

In her speech later, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti bounced back to counter the argument. Ms Mufti termed Omar’s statements as provocative and said that it was unfortunate to see him resorting to such kind of speech.

“Such statements could derail peace in Jammu region,” she said, insisting that Jammu remained peaceful throughout the period.

“BJP is the single largest party with ever biggest mandate in the country. The party was given mandate by the people in Jammu. The people in this house representing BJP are the elected representatives of people and insulting the legislators in any way is not the political morality taught to us by the principles of democratic modernity,” Ms Mufti said.

The Chief Minister said that the party may have its own politics but it understands the problems being faced in the state. She also said that on a comparison between Congress and BJP, when it comes to issues like Kashmir, there is not much difference.
