BJP’s Double Mohal Lal, Two SC Police Officers Being Feilded in JK Assembly Polls

   

SRINAGAR: In a rare twist, two senior police officers named Mohan Lal are set to contest the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections on BJP tickets.

Mohan Lal Kaith, a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in the Kashmir Police Service, is expected to run from the Marh assembly constituency, while his namesake, a year his junior, is tipped to contest from the Akhnoor assembly constituency. Both seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes.

The Jammu and Kashmir elections will be conducted in three phases, and political parties are expected to announce their candidate lists.

News-18 reported that two senior police officers, both named Mohan Lal, are likely to contest on BJP tickets from Jammu.

One officer, Mohan Lal Kaith, a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in the Kashmir Police Service (KPS), is reportedly set to run from the Marh assembly constituency.

The other, a year junior and simply named Mohan Lal, is expected to contest from the Akhnoor assembly constituency. Both seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes.

Mohan Lal Kaith, who recently led the 4th Battalion of the security wing, and Mohan Lal have both applied for voluntary retirement after discussions with BJP’s J&K leadership.

Their retirement applications are pending approval from the Home Department, the News-18 reported.

The BJP has retained its seats in Jammu in the recent Lok Sabha election, with Jugal Kishore Sharma and Jitendra Singh maintaining their positions.
