SRINAGAR: A wild black bear was captured by the Wildlife Department on Saturday in Noorkha village of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A wildlife official said the bear had been roaming in the area for some time, causing concern among local residents.
He added that villagers had informed the Wildlife Department a few days ago after spotting the animal, following which a cage was installed in the area. The bear was successfully trapped this morning, he said.
The official further said that after a medical examination, the animal would be relocated to a wildlife sanctuary. (GNS)
