SRINAGAR: Former Chief Minister and President of Jammu Kashmir National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah, said on Tuesday that there are bleak chances of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir if the BJP comes to power once again.

“I don’t know whether assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will happen or not. Though the Supreme Court had set a date for holding elections in JK, I am disappointed with the designs of the BJP, who, if voted to power once again, will violate the directions of the apex court,” Dr Farooq, told reporters at Nawa-e-Subh Srinagar.

He said PM Modi wants to remain in power for a lifetime, like Putin in Russia.

Responding to a query, Dr Farooq said that Ghulam Nabi Azad, Sajad Gani Lone, and Altaf Bukhari should introspect whom they are playing for and urged them to revisit their decision of supporting those who are anti-Muslim identities. He prayed for the guidance of the trio.

Replying to a query over unscheduled power cuts in the valley, the NC president said, “The crisis may likely weaken in the coming days, and the situation will get more chaotic if they continue to remain in power.” (KNS)
