SRINAGAR: National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Friday said that there are bleak chances for a pre-poll alliance with any party for the upcoming assembly elections, and the party is ready to contest independently.
Addressing a news conference, Omar said that there is little chance of a pre-poll alliance with parties that had targeted them before and after the Lok Sabha elections.
“In this short period before the assembly polls, I don’t think there will be any pre-poll alliance,” he said, adding that while the doors remain open, candidate announcements will only occur after a decision on alliances is reached.
He also noted that the intensity of transfers being conducted ahead of the polls was unprecedented, including the replacement of the DGP.
Omar added that the party will write to the Election Commission regarding the massive transfers occurring in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the elections—(KNO).
