Body Fished From Lider Identified As Rouf Jan

The body which was fished out from River Lidder and was lying unidentified with the police since Sunday has been identified as Rouf Ahmad Wani son of Gulam Nabi Wani resident of Shopian, says a local in Shopian.

Rouf, commonly known as Rouf Jan had gone to his maternal aunt’s place in Sheirpora, Kulgam for three days. But since he left from his relative’s place he didn’t return home.

A local in Pahalgam adds, “In late hours on Saturday, a Sumo, carrying four people, was roaming in the area and in the morning we found a body in Lidder which had marks on arms and on the back side of head.”

On seeing a body, locals got panic and informed the local police station. The body was later shifted to district hospital for post mortem. “Initially we didn’t know who the person was as we couldn’t identify from the face of the body and his identity card was also missing. It seems like the reality is something else as Rouf was found in some other clothes and his belongingness were not with him.”

But police had also informed in its statement that they have fished out an unidentified body of a young person from Lidder Nala near Amusement park, Pahalgam, Islamabad and added that the age of the person is about 30 years.
