SRINAGAR: A body was recovered from a river near the Sonamarg Toll Plaza in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday, officials said.
Quoting officials, news agency GNS reported that local residents spotted the body floating in the river and immediately alerted the police. A police team, assisted by rescue personnel, rushed to the spot and retrieved the body from the water.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been established. The body has been shifted to a nearby hospital for postmortem examination and other medico-legal formalities.
Police have registered the case and launched an investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to the death.
