A powerful face and three time lawmaker from Uri constituency of the erstwhile state assembly, Mohiuddin secured 9644 votes over his nearest rival Showkat Ali Khan. Khan who belonged to Sajjad Lone led J&K Peoples Conference secured 7923 votes.

Mohiuddin, who had important portfolios as minister multiple times, lost the last assembly elections held in J&K in 2014. He was defeated by veteran National Conference leader Muhammad Shafi Uri.

Interestingly, days after Mohiuddin announced to fight first ever held DDC polls, he was booked by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with alleged multi-crore Roshni land scam. He, however, denied the involvement and termed it as political vendetta, adding  “the blamers should show me where the land is situated as aimed to belong to him.”

Vowing to fight for the “people”, Mohiuddin, while announcing his decision did not bother about the alliance of different parties, which later was formed into PAGD. However, later withdrawal of Congress from the alliance put him back as the party’s candidate for the selected constituency.
