SRINAGAR

The Crime Branch on Saturday produced 17 accused before an antic corruption court in Srinagar where the court heard and recorded the arguments on the charge sheet filed in the matter.

Sources in the crime branch said that on the directions of court passed on January 28, Farooq Itoo, one out of the five accused against whom the court had issued non bailable warrants was produced on January 29. “So Itoo was not produced before the court today. The other four accused wanted by the crime branch are not available,” sources in the crime branch told KNS.

Meanwhile, Molvi Aijaz, the counsel for Mushtaq Baqaal, alias Peer the accused (former chairman of Board of Professional Entrance Examination) did not appear in the matter. Sources said that Molvi Aijaz is seriously thinking of dissociating himself from Peer’s plea, for unknown reasons. The court has now listed the matter for next hearing on February 4.
