SRINAGAR: With the nod from the Centre, the Jammu and Kashmir government re-appointed former Chief Secretary BR Sharma as chairman of Public Service Commission (PSC).

BR Sharma Is New PSC Chairman

Last week, the government had rescinded the notification appointing Sharma as chairman of PSC after certain objections from the Government of India.

“In exercise of powers conferred by Section 93 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, and S.O. 3937 (E) dated 31″ October 2019, read with Order issued in terms of sub-clause (I) of clause (c) of the Proclamation issued by the President dated 31m October 2019, the Lieutenant Governor of Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to appoint Mr B. R. Sharma, IAS (Reid.), as Chairman, Public Service Commission for the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He shall hold the position of the Chairman, Public Service Commission, till he attains the age of sixty-two years,” reads the notification issued by orders of the Lieutenant Governor.

“His appointment shall take effect from the date he assumes the office,” it reads.
