Although there will be no rains for nearly a week, but weathermen on Monday asked people to brace up for severe cold as mercury may dip further next week across Kashmir valley.

“Weather will remain cloudy in coming days but there will be no rains for over a week. There will be slight dip in the temperatures,” met office said.

It said that higher reaches may experience scanty snow or rains but in plains weather will remain dry for over a week.

Meanwhile, Leh in frontier region of Ladakh continue to reel under intense cold as the night temperature dipped to minus 6.7 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, summer capital of the state, also recorded a low of 0.3 degrees Celsius recorded at 0830 hours. Jammu, winter capital of the state, recorded a low of 8.7 degrees Celsius.
