Police in Kupwara on Saturday said that it has arrested six youth from Reddi village of Chowkibal area of northern Kashmir’s Kupwara District for allegedly thrashing a suspected braid chopper who was identified as a “Territorial Army man”.

Taking cognizance of the incident police have identified the persons who are believed to be involved in thrashing of army man and have been arrested.

On October 17 a braid of a girl was chopped in the area following which the locals caught hold of suspected braid chopper and beat him. Locals had claimed that the suspected chopper after fleeing tried to board an army vehicle. The area also witnessed heavy clashes after the incident. Many youth and some policemen including SHO suffered injuries during the clashes.

Talking to Kashmir Life, SHO Kralpora, confirmed the arrest of the youth. He said the arrests will continue.
