Seven persons have suffered pellet injuries as clashes erupted in Boniyar area of Uri on Saturday after a woman’s braid was chopped off.
Reports said that people took to streets and staged protests after police took custody of the alleged “braid chopper”.
They said that the residents caught hold of a youth who they alleged was behind the braid-cutting incident.
However, police arrived at the scene and took custody of the alleged braid-chopper, said a local, adding that it angered the residents who staged a protest.
A doctor from Boniyar told Kashmir Life that nine people have suffered injuries in the clashes including seven with pellets.
