Her husband, Muhammad Akther, had gone to buy some items for the breakfast when two men approached her, sprayed “something” in her eyes and cut her braid, one of her neighbour, said.

Gulshana was taken to local hospital by her neighbours where she was discharged immediately after regaining consciousness.

Locals immediately rushed to the Gulshana’s home couldn’t trace the masked men, who, according to locals, “vanished into thin air like spooks after cutting her braid”.

As the word spread about the incident in the area, locals hit the streets to protest the “inaction of police” to nab the culprits.

Police tried to thwart the protest and resorted to teargas shelling on locals, ensuing stone-pelting.

Police has started an investigation into the matter and are probing the case for further details.

Meanwhile, Joint Hurriyat leadership has called for a shutdown on Monday October 09 to protest against braid chopping.
