Srinagar

Massive anti-braid chopping protests erupted at various places across Kashmir on Friday with people demanding an end to what they termed “conspiracy of agencies”.

On the call of joint resistance leadership, scores of JRL activists appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and raised slogans against the government. They said “Government agencies were behind such incidents in the valley.”

The protesters were later bundled into police vehicle and shifted to Kothi Bagh Police Station.

Women in Sarai Bala area of the business hub Lal Chowk in capital city Srinagar also took out a protest march and tried to march towards civil secretariat. However, a posse of police stopped them from moving ahead.

Reports coming from Soura area of the capital city said that people held protests against braid chopping in Valley.

“People held anti-braid chopping protests in Anchar area of Soura,” eye witnesses said. “They raised slogans: manzoor nahi-manzoor nahi, mulzimo ko pesh karo.”

For past three weeks, Kashmir witnessed more than 50 incidents of braid chopping. Early this morning an “alleged” braid chopper succumbed to injures after he was hit by a brick on Wednesday evening in Islamabad district during protests.
