Braving incessant rains thousands of people from different areas of Budgam district converged on roads and started marching towards Brass Arizal to offer funeral prayers of slain militant Mukhtar Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Ahad Khan.
An eyewitness said that two rounds of funeral prayers were held for the slain. Scores of men and women wept bitterly as the body was being carried towards the final resting place, he said.
Pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans were raised by the mourners as the body was marched towards the local graveyard.
Khan was killed in an encounter with forces in Zagoo village along with his associate Mohammad Amin Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir a resident of Pampore. “One army man also sustained the injury in the gun-battle,” police said.
