Pulwama: Two militants were killed in South Kashmir Sunday afternoon near a Naka at Padgampora Awantipora, police sources told Kashmir Life.
Sources said, militants were intercepted and challenged by joint team of Army and Police at Naka.
“The militants were travelling in a Maruti car and on being stopped they opened fire on the forces,” police officials said. “In a brief encounter two militants were gunned down,” he added.
The slain militants are said to be locals and identified as Farooq Ahmad Hurra of Nazimpora Shopian and Rayees Ahmad, a resident of Below in Pulwama.
Pertinently South Kashmir is going for elections in April 2017.
