Brig (Retd) KK Lakhanpal on Sunday joined the National Conference in presence of the party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and senior leaders.

Welcoming Brig Lakhanpal into the party at a function at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, Dr Farooq Abdullah said he will be entrusted with the crucial assignment of looking after the affairs of ex-servicemen and war-widows, whose problems are manifold.

“National Conference will play a pro-active role in seeking resolution of the problems confronted to ex-servicemen”, Dr Abdullah said and hoped that a team led by Brig Lakhanpal will coordinate all their issues.

The NC President said that with the joining of Brig Lakhanpal, the party will be further strengthened at the grassroots level and play its designated role. He said National Conference is the natural destination for all those who want to serve the people and its people.

Dr Abdullah said the NC SC Cell will be further strengthened.

“History stands testimony about the crucial role of National Conference in forging unity and amity between various segments of the society in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh”, he said and hoped that the cadre will bequeath this spirit to posterity. He said communal amity has been the richest legacy of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, who strived all his life to sustain this glorious tradition of the State.

Senior state and provincial level and district functionaries, former ministers besides former and sitting legislators greeted Brig Lakhanpal on his joining National Conference.
