SRINAGAR: Kashmir’s promising scientist, Junaid Nissar is no more. A resident of Srinagar, he died of cancer at home after being discharged from a city hospital. He was a young scnetist working with the Baba Atomic Reaserch Centre (BARC).

Junaid got a fellowship from BARC for his M Tech immediately after he graduated from NIT. Soon, he bagged a junior scientist job in BARC at Kota. Later, he was shifted to BARC, Mumbai.

Reports said Junaid was fighting cancer and passed away last night. He is survived by his medico wife and a two-and-a-half year old son. His younger brother is an orthopaedic at Srinagar’s Bone and Joint Hopsital.

Family sources said he was diagnosed for cancer within a year after his marriage. Since then he was shuttling between the hospitals and mostly was being treat at TATA Cancer Hospital in Mumbai.

For the last few days he was in SMHS’s super speciality hospital’s ICU following which he was moved to his residence where he breathed his last, Thursday evening. His father, a retired government official lives in Tengpora.
