GANDARBAL

Recently formed Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) President and MLA Langate Er Rashid asked Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to bring Afzal Guru’s mortal remains with him, when he is likely to visit Kashmir next week, or face protest march by AIP.

Addressing AIP’s one day convention on Wednesday, at Ganderbal, the chief minister’s constituency he said. “It is unfortunate that several Union leaders including Kapil Sibhal, Jairam Ramesh and Rahul Gandhi have been making frequent visits to the state after the hanging of Afzal Guru and are giving an impression that Kashmiris have given up their struggle for the resolution of Kashmir Dispute. But the fact of the matter is that nobody on earth can stop Kashmiris from raising their voice to seek their political and other rights which they have been denied since 1947.”

Rashid added, “It is obvious that Congress Leadership ruling in the center and the State is trying either to ignore the sentiments and ground realities or willingly intending to provoke peaceful Kashmiris to resort to violence, who are fighting politically for their rights, so that security agencies get a chance to crush Kashmiri people especially youth.” Rashis further said that if Prime Minister of India has a bit of sincerity, he must make an open commitment to resolve Jammu and Kashmir dispute by taking initiatives to have a meaningful dialogue with the government of Pakistan, Kashmiri Political Leadership and the militant leadership without any pre conditions.

He further said, “sensible Kashmiris don’t have any hope in PM’s upcoming visit as many Prime Ministers like Manmohan Singh have been making these futile and result less visits without making any break through to resolve the political dispute of Jammu and Kashmir since last sixty years.”

Er Rashid said, “Even if communal forces and heart less rulers in New Delhi don’t want to return Afzal Guru’s mortal remains back, the least Mr. Manmohan Singh could do is to get Afzal’s Mortal remains with him and allow Kashmiris to mourn his death in Eidgah.”

“If Prime Minister does not give any heed to the demand of return of Afzal Guru’s mortal remains, AIP will welcome him with black flags and a protest march on his arrival to the State Capital,” Rashid announced.
