Sarah Elizabeth, a 25 year old British woman, was allegedly murdered inside her room in the ‘New Beauty House Boat’ in Dal Lake in the wee hours of Saturday.
The British women had been staying in the house boat from last two months.
Police suspect that a Dutch tourist, Richard de Wit, who had checked in two days back in the house boat, is allegedly responsible for the death of Sarah Elizabeth.
Richard was arrested by police, 100 km from Srinagar in Qazi Gund area, when he was trying to flee Kashmir valley.
Police suspect that Elizabeth might have been raped before being killed.
A case of murder has been registered and a team of forensic experts has been roped into help the police in their investigations.
The police in Srinagar said that it was still not conformed whether Richard had raped Sarah or not but they suspect that he is behind her murder.
The owner of the New Beauty house Boat said there was a sound of someone jumping in the river as he tried to find out he found David swimming across and then fleeing the spot.
The House Boat owner informed the police, which swung into action and they arrested Richard from Qazigund on the Srinagar Jammu highway.

The tourism Minister is these days promoting Kashmir valley throughout India with flight fares to Srinagar already skyrocketing.
