Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Tuesday while condemning the killing of Misra Begum, in Handawara said women have immensely contributed to and made enormous sacrifices during this movement for freedom, said spokesman.
“The role of women in this anti-India movement has been equal to that of the men. Not only have the women lost their fathers, brothers, sons or husbands but have also laid their lives for this cause. They have made sacrifices directly as well as indirectly,” DeM general secretary, Nahida Nasreen, said in a statement.

Nasreen said that “women have been jailed, tortured and have also killed while pursuing this pious cause. Misra’s sacrifice is yet another example of how women along with their men have been targeted by the forces” and added that “sacrifice of Misra and thousands of Kashmiri women like her will never go waste and one day it lead us towards our goal of achieving freedom from India.”

The spokesman said Nasreen also paid tributes to the militants who were killed at the gunfight in Handwara.
“People must understand that India is not only the enemy of militants but of every Muslim in Jammu and Kashmir and they only want the land of Kashmir to continue its barbaric rule.”

“Misra, who was the mother of a 1-year-old baby, was targeted by these forces. It was a murder and it is factually wrong to say she died in cross firing. It is a cold blooded murder by these forces,” she said.

Nasreen said that the baby girl of Misra is craving for milk. “India must understand that its brutalities only strengthen our resolve.”

She appealed Kashmiri’s to remain united. “We have to remain steadfast and should not aid India or its forces in any manner. To throw out these enemies from Kashmir, every person here has to play its role with hairy and dedication,” she added.
