BSF Convoy Attacked on Highway; 3 Killed, 12 Injured

Suspected militants attacked a Border Security Forces (BSF) convoy at Narsu Nallah in Samruli near Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday morning killing two BSF men and injuring 12 others.

In an ensued attack which took place around 5:30am Wednesday morning, it is said one militant has also been killed.

After the attack, said the police officer, senior BSF troopers and police officers rushed to the spot, 65km away from here in Udhampur district. After the attack, heavy deployment of forces has been stationed on Highway.

Police said the militants threw a grenade on the convoy injuring around dozen BSF men.

While the injured were shifted to hospital, the Jammu-Srinagar highway is cleared for traffic.

“An attack on this stretch of the NH after a very long time,” the former chief minister Omar Abdullah took to twitter to react over attack. “Worrying development because area was militant free.”
