A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was killed today in exchange of fire with Pakistani Rangers along the Line of Control (LoC) in  North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Constable Krishan Kumar Dubey (belt No: 13312690) of  BSF 119 battalion was killed when Pakistani Rangers allegedly opened heavy gunfire on Karam picket in Nowgam sector of Handwara in the frontier district, officials told Srinagar based news gathering agency Global News Service.

The Pakistan Rangers, he said started firing heavily upon the picket around 6:00 PM Thursday.

“The exchange of gunfire continued for at least half an hour,” the official said, adding “The troopers death led to escalation in the exchange of fire between the two sides.”
