The second militant killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Chattergam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday has been identified as Mehraj ud Din Khan a resident of New colony Sopore.

Reports said that the second militant whose identity remained unknown since yesterday evening was recognized by his family members today.

A senior Police official told GNS that we have handed over the body of the militant to the family after all legal formalities.

Khan was killed on Wednesday along with his associate top Lashkar commander Naveed Jatt, in a gunfight in Kuthpora Chattergam area of District Budgam.

Pertinently Mehraj was an OGW as per Police and was arrested during a naka in October 2018. However, after four days of arrest, he had fled from the Police station and formally joined militancy. (GNS)
