SRINAGAR: Scores of the relatives of the woman who allegedly committed suicide on Friday staged a protest here at press colony Srinagar, demanding stern punishment to the ‘culprits.’
Relatives and family members of the victim assembled here in Lal Chowk to protest against the alleged murder of their daughter by her in-laws at Namtehal Chadoora area of Budgam.
The protesting relatives demanded action against the culprits involved in the crime. The protesters also alleged that the deceased woman was allegedly poisoned by her husband.
They said that the deceased woman was pregnant from 6 months, adding that it is a double murder, wife as well as a child.
“Police have already arrested the husband of my deceased sister but we demand the arrest of all family members of accused Ghulam Rasool Wani who is the resident of Namtahal Budgam,” said Bilal Ahmad, brother of the deceased woman.
“Shaheena Akther, a resident of Charar-e-Shareef was married to Ghulam Rasool Wani of Namtahal in 2011. The animosity developed in their relationship after Ghulam Rasool Wani took all his golden ornaments and spent the money for his personal needs. With no money in hand, he started harassing her,” her brother said.
